When I was a child my Grandmother always made sure the grandkids had plenty of love and plenty to do. I remember when she would call us on the phone and say “Destination Unknown” and then hang up. This was a game she played with us and we knew that meant we were going somewhere special we just did not know where. (Unless of course she told us to bring a swim suit) She would take us to the neatest places like Arbuckle Wilderness and Turner Falls. She was very creative in where she would take us and she very rarely spent alot of money. Maybe thats where I get my frugalness from?
I have since started the same tradition with my kids. My kids love driving in the car and trying to guess where it is that we get to go. Now that I have to work full time we have really had to get creative lol!
Where is a fun place that you enjoy taking your kids? Do you have any fun traditions like this that you did as a child?

What a great story! One of the places we always had fun is Great Salt Plains state park
near Jet/Nash. The park is open April-Oct and
is one of the few places to dig for Selenite
crystals. Best of all it is free!
