Many of you know I work for Fast Fixin'. They sent out a memo about cold and flu season that I thought was good and I wanted to share. While you guys are clipping your coupons and saving on your groceries don't forget to fill your grocery basket with immune boosting goodies !

Add vitamin C-Rich food to every meal :

Citrus fruits (oranges,lemons,limes,tangerines,grapefruit and clementines)

Kiwis,Strawberries,Pineapple,Guava,Papaya, Blackcurrants,Blackberries,Green bell peppers,Potatoes,Tomatoes,Broccoli,Carrots,Cabbage,Tomatoes or anything leafy and green are a good source too!

(Use the $2.00 off fresh fruit when you buy 2 Austin products coupon from the Kelloggs Fuel For School coupon booklet, my store had Austin Crackers for .99)

Try a red bell pepper or butternut squash... both are good sources of 3 important vitamins- A,C,& E, making them Superfoods for immunity!

Another necessary nutrient in the fight against the flu-zinc. Choose lean beef, peanuts, and peanut butter to get your daily dose.

Other heavy hitters to add to your grocery list this cold and flue season?

Garlic, Low fat cheese and milk, and low fat yogurt!

Get a Coupon for Yoplait Yogurt ! Print more Yogurt coupons here !

And of course your #1 defense against the cold and flu is

It’s going to be another long winter!! Three of my six kids already have colds and it’s just a matter of time till the other three get it. Seriously, though, their pediatrician told me once that the absolute MOST IMPORTANT thing is handwashing (or hand sanitizer).
