This past Sunday I headed to Rite Aid with spreadsheet, coupons, and ad in hand. It wasn’t a big trip but I had $10 in +Up Rewards expiring (plus some others on hand) so I planned out my scenario to the penny with intentions of picking up necessities. I went straight for the cleaning aisle and realized instantly that my plan was useless as the store I was at didn’t carry the Cascade Action Pacs listed in the ad. I decided to head to another Rite Aid store less than a mile down the road. Still, nothing. Time to regroup! I stood in the aisle for a good 10 minutes working the math and doing scenarios. I didn’t bring any additional coupons with me so there weren’t too many options.

Rewind to a week ago – I noticed I was running low on SoftSoap hand soap and had no refills in the house. I ended up running to the store that day and picked up a couple regular size bottles at $1 each. A bit much for my liking. After much thought, I decided to use my $20 in +Ups to stock up on hand soap! My transactions between the two stores went like this:

Transaction #1
4 Softsoap Liquid Hand Soap Refills (28-32oz) $2.50 each
2 Soft Scrub Total $2.50 each
Subtotal: $15.00

- (2) $1/1 Soft Scrub Total RP 3/11/12 (exp 4/21/12)
- $13 in +Up Rewards
Total: $0 Out of Pocket
Received $1 +Up Reward for Soft Scrub

Transaction #2
4 Softsoap Liquid Hand Soap Refills (28-32oz) $2.50 each
Subtotal: $10

-$8 +Up Rewards
Total: $2 Out of Pocket
Received $10 +Up Reward for SoftSoap (Spend $20 on select items; Receive $10 in +Up Rewards)

I guess the saying is true…’ask and you shall receive’. We are definitely set on hand soap for a very long time!
