I think everyone can agree how important it is to save money whenever you can. Well OG&E has made saving money on your energy bill a lot easier with their SmartHours program. The SmartHours program helps you save money by educating you on how and when you operate anything electrical. They also give you a SmartTemp Thermostat that you can program to help you use your A/C more efficiently.
I am one of those people that likes the house cool. So when I was approached with this program I was skeptical to say the least. Well my reservations were proven to be false. You don’t have to sacrifice comfort to save money. We saved on average about $31.00 a week! We could have saved more if we wanted to but like I said, I like the house cool. We did this by just adjusting when we did simple household chores like laundry or dishes. With the SmartHours program energy costs are cheaper before 2pm and after 7pm. So it was just as easy as doing things in the morning or in the evening.
Another COOL thing is that you get messages from OG&E via text or through your SmartTemp Thermostat, that tell you what the next day energy cost are going to be. This helps you decide what you want to do the next day to maximize your savings. How COOL is that! The SmartTemp Thermostat will also automatically raise the temp in your house (if you want it to) when the energy costs are high. It has different settings that you can pick from depending on your preference.
So as you can see, signing up for the OG&E SmartHours program is just…..well it’s just Smart!

Are energy costs cheaper for all OG&E customers from 2 to 7, or just those on SmartHours?
Just those on Smarthours.
