I was very excited when I was approached by Ted from e.l.f. and Virgin Mobile to test out the new Virgin Mobile LG Rumor! My son Ryan has been asking for a phone for ever and I had originally told him that he could not get one till he was in 5th and grade and could show he was responsible.Ok so I caved……. but let me tell you why!
This phone has no contracts and you can load it with minutes and when they are gone you can reload them. This is a perfect way to see if Ryan can handle a cell phone! I can also make him earn his minutes! This will also be a great way to teach him to save his money that he gets to pay for his own bills!
Virgin Mobile also offers an unlimted calls and text plan! With no contracts you don’t have to worry about signing up for a service you don’t need or wondering if the phone company is going to change it’s contracts or policies on you! This phone flips up to reveal a keypad for easy texting!
I am sure you have all seen the commercials with the lips! There is a contest on facebook where you can win your own phone and a cash prize as well! This contest is headed up by both Virgin Mobile and elf cosmetics which I do have to say is now my brand of choice for cosmetics because it’s a good value for my money and of course thats what my blog is all about!
Here are some Key Features on this phone:

Good way to teach responsibility.
Wow. Anyone else a bit shocked about cell phones being marketed to kids below 5th grade?
For some reason it didn’t add my earlier post. I like the sound of this phone… but I truly believe that no kid under the age of 14-15 truly needs a cell phone. Too many parents allow their kids way more freedom of movement because they feel “safer” because they can use the cell phone to “check in on them”. I can’t tell you how many kids I see in court each day whose folks thought they knew where they were at the time the incident happened, but were 100% WRONG!
Mind you, Melissa, I’m not saying you would do this… it’s just a major trend we’re seeing happen here in Family Court. Plus, our kids have gotten so tied into this texting habit that many of them are really missing out on learning the necessary face-to-face socializing and communication skills they would have gotten without that phone always being attached to them at the hip.
