WoW!! Made this recipe tonight and am extremely pleased w the outcome :) super easy and nice texture. Messy clean up tho cuz its waterproof and lottsa oils. Anyway just thought i wud share why the ice bath is necessary since it wasnt obvious to me in the beginning. The zinc oxide doesnt completely disolve and sinks to bottom. Its helpful to have the oils solidify before this happens.

Made a second batch thats not water-proof that i just bought my favourite 8 oz Aveeno lotion and added 2 oz of zinc oxide to it to make a +20SPF version sunscreen. A side note: a half pound of zinc oxide was exactly 2 oz and 4TBSP for each recipe. $4 at Rovin Ceramics in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Can I ask why each ingredient (besides the zinc oxide) is necessary? I just want to know, cause I’m wondering if I can substitute with some of the stuff I already have at home. :)
