United Way Opens Needs Assessment Site
In response to Sunday's devastating hail storm, United Way is opening a Needs Assessment Site to gather information and understand the scope of the damage.

When: Saturday, May 22
8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Where: Crossings Community Center
2208 W. Hefner Road, Oklahoma City
Former Wal-mart facility

Traditionally hail damage is not covered by federal assistance, therefore, there has not been a formal assessment of the storm damage. Case managers from various United Way Partner Agencies will be conducting preliminary assessments of damage incurred during last Sunday's hail storm. It is important to note, this is purely an information gathering site no assistance will be provided at this time.

United Way of Central Oklahoma is accepting donations to our Disaster Relief Fund. Donations can be made by clicking the Emergency Relief Fund button on the right hand side of the screen.

Those who were affected by the hail storm, but unable to visit the site on Saturday can fill out this questionnaire and a case manager will review and follow-up with you in the coming weeks

I am soo excited. I got a call on Friday that I may be getting my windows replaced on my car or cars due to going and filling out the above form. I have an interview Wednesday at 3:30 where they verify that I did have insurance and that I did not have full coverage and where I live etc. They did not get funding to repair houses but I have an applicaiton coming from the people thatw are supposed to help with that. I have a hole in my roof and it leaks into the garage but people want $5,500 to repair my roof. Heck I made $15,500 last year. I cannot replace the roof yet so the repair of the vehicles so I can drive the 4 cylinder car instead of the 8 cylinder van would be awsome.

I did not have home owners insurance at the time of the hailstorm since I was not actually living in the home so I did not qualify now no one will give me homeowners until I replace the roof. I hope that application gets here soon!
