I really want to start using coupons more. The biggest problem I have is the papers on my island don't have coupon inserts. I have started using internet printables, but I was wondering what other great coupon sources there are. There are rarely tearpads and blinkies here. Any suggestions?

Stores by me
Walmart
Safeway
Foodland/sack and save
KTA
Longs Drugs

Also, I have seen a few programs that offer directorys of phone numbers (or something like that I think) I don't understand these at all. It sounds kind of weird. Have any of you used these programs. I don't really understand what they are offering. But I think you are supposed to get vouchers or something. Can anyone explain this to me?

Sorry I have so many questions, I just really want to make this work.

TIA!!!

Jeanette,
I'm not sure about the directory thing you mentioned, but one thing you can do is send an email different companies telling them how much you like certain products and they will usually send you coupons in return. Don't ask for the coupons, just simply let them know how much you like their products.

You may think about subscribing to a mainland newspaper to get more coupons. I don't know what the postage would run or how long it would take but most coupons don't expire for a 1-3 months so you would still be able to use them.

Hope this helps!

I would also talk to any friends or family on the mainland and ask them to mail me some coupons. My mom is on the east coast and mails me her coupons twice a month. She sometimes gets better coupons than I do.

thanks! Those are great ideas.

I was wondering... Have any of you tried this type of thing before? They are a few like it out there. But they are vague and don't really explain how it works or what is involved.

Thanks for you help. I ordered a bunch of free samples today and am hoping they come with great coupons.

I made my first real coupon purchase :) I bought the quaker select harvest hot cereal and granola bars. I had a $1/1 coupon, and the cereal was on sale for 1.99 (was 5.77) so I got it for .99. each box had another $1 off coupon in it, so I purchased several more. The granola bars ended up only costing my .49 a box after the coupon. YAY!! Prices are so high here in Hawaii that I get giddy when I find a deal. LOL!
