okay... well im pretty new to this whole couponing thing, but i am willing to put in the effort. I called all of my local grocery stores, but none of them do any coupon doubling, or they only double up to $1.00. is this normal???? also, everytime i try to use more then one item i am told "only one coupon per purchase" how is everyone using multiple coupons???? can someone please point me in a good direction! thanks

What stores do you have in your area? I would think you would have Acme, Giant, Superfresh, Jewel Oscso, Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid. AM I correct?

Not all stores double coupons. Here in OKC I have one store that doubles coupons and they double up to and including $1. However they only double one like coupon. Could that be what they are telling you when they say 1 coupon per purchase. For example if I have 10 coupons for $0.50 off Dawn (I wish) only one of those would get doubled and the rest would be at face value.

thanks for getting back to me... um i actually havent heard of many of those stores (im from the middle of nowhere-amish country) :P but we do have a giant foods about 20 min from us, same as CVS. most of our local stores are privately owned or we shop at walmart.

about the only "one coupon per purchase" ... im being told that if i am buying say huggies diapers for 10.99 and i have a 5.00 off coupon and a $1.50 off coupon that i can only use one of them for each package that i buy. i have a one year old and a 3 month old so i buy lots of diapers. i must have 50 coupons for diapers, but i dont know where i could go to use more then one at a time. there are other things i buy a lot of also, like soups, juices, yogurt... that i would love to use more then one coupon on at a time... is there some place where this is allowed?

Giant is a great place. You can use multiple coupons and they double $1 coupons. Go to the grocery stores and go to the Giant Foods link. Also you can PM me and I will help you out!

You can only use 1 coupon per item. If you have 50 huggies coupons you must buy 50 packages of huggies.

oh ok, i c... thats what i thought... but then i guess i am just a little confused how people get things for free? i guess all of this will just take some time to figure out. everyone makes it seem so easy, but to me its just a little overwhelming. im def. going to stick with it though.

another question though... sorry... say you have a coupon that is for $1.00 off 5 cans of soup. if you buy 5 cans can you use 5 coupons???

it seems so easy because most of us have done it for a while. You will get the hang of it, don't get frustrated or overwhelmed, just start slow, and in no time you will figure it all out, the longer you do it the easier it gets.

okay, so today was the day... i went shopping with my coupons for the first time. i went to giant but i must say i was a little bummed. i went there thinking they double $1 coupons, which they don't. they also would not triple any internet coupons, which stunk.

i had a total saving of 24.00 which was alright. next time ill plan better now that i know the rules.

$24.00 for a first time savings is GREAT! Unless of course you spent something like $500.00 or something....LOL! Seriously, if you spent even $100, that's a 25% savings rate, which is darn good for a first time out! Just keep working at it, you'll get to know the stores and their policies before long. It'll all fit together. I just think of it as a giant puzzle...gotta fit all the pieces together to get the best deal. Congrats on your first trip!

Shannon,

So sorry they don't double your $1 coupons! My Giant here does. I was told that they change store to store. $24 is a great first time savings! Maybe do a google search of other stores nearby and see if they do. Next time, try to buy only what is on sale and you have a coupon for.
