Update on Asher and my rant

OK...so my daughter called the doctors office yesterday to see when her next appt is and if there was an update on the proton radiation and finding a pediatric anesthesiologist.
Well...the nurse called her back and told her to come in today to discuss different options with the doctor.
Here is the deal: They can't find a pediatric anesthesiologist to put Asher under at the ProCure treatment center..what the heck??? The options will basically be...do regular radiation at Childrens or go out of state for the proton therapy. Regular radiation does a lot of damage to a child his age..so my daughter already said she doesn't want to do that.
Seriously..there are 6 proton therapy centers in the US..1 is 10 miles from my daughters house and she has to go out of state to receive the treatment? This is disgusting, we are not talking about making a little boo boo go away we are talking about a life of a 1 yr old and trying to minimize the damage caused by the treatments he has to do in order to beat the cancer. What is wrong with this picture people??? The closest places to OKC besides the one here is MD Anderson in Houston and the Proton Therapy Center in Jacksonville Florida. Yeah take that in for a minute.
We have dozens of hospitals in the OKC metro area and none of the pediatric anesthesiologists can provide their services to save the life of a child? How can anyone live with that?
So while taking all that in last night and me trying to figure out where the proton therapy centers are located in the states, i get a call from my daughter saying that she thinks Asher just had a seizure. Lets not forget that the motor in her car is blown, so we had to run by her apartment and drive Asher to the ER.
I'm beyond frustrated, i am so angry, angry at doctors that only care about what's convenient for them and how much money they make.

My daughter talked to the doc today, she said ProCure will try to get an anest. on contract in january. The doc will talk to ProCure again and see if that's an iffy or if they are certain they could do it in january.
The doc does not want Asher to get regular radiation.
Asher will have another MRI on sunday, depending on how things look then the doc and us will decide if we want to wait till january to start treatment or not, if we don't want to wait she wants him to go to MD Anderson in Houston, she said she could get him in before christmas. All depends on what Procure says and how the MRI comes out. We should have a definate answer by Monday afternoon.

**update** Talked to my ex that went with my daughter to appointment, he said one anest. that has been used with Asher a few times offered and volunteered to do it before or after his shift, but his boss won't let him because they are so short staffed at childrens right now and can't afford for one to be away from the hospital, just thought i let you all know not all anest. don't care**
St. Judes does not have Proton Beam Therapy, they refer their patients to Jacksonville, FL. We would prefer Houston since we would have at least a chance to visit.

Wow, I just cant beleive everything that is going on. All I can say is I am praying for you. I will also be asking for prayer at church this Sunday. I'm not sure what God's outcome of this is for you guys but this is all happening for a reason. Only God knows that reason. But lets praise him in this storm. Because we know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. If you need anything please let me know.
