OK...Monday I got a notice from the Oklahoma State Department of Health Newborn Hearing Screening people that the baby needed to be rescreened since he was high risk for hearing loss due to the fact that he was in a Level II or III nursery for longer than 24-48 hours. We went this morning to the health department to see a Speech language Pathologist who tested him and his right tympanic membrane was not working properly signifying possible fluid in his middle ear. he did however pass his OAE so he CAN hear. He has been playing with his right ear so I called the nurse who said to bring him in today at 1:20. Pray that it is jut a minor ear infection that antibiotics will take care of and nothing more serious.

He went to the dr and the dr said he is 100% fine that there is no redness in either ear and that he is not congested or sick in any way. He said maybe the person who tested him this morning was over anxious. So I guess we will go back in 1 month to the OK health dept to test like they told us to if he did not get on antibiotics.

Praying that it continues to go well for him!!! You are a great Mom!! It can become so frustrating dealing with different Dr.s and staffs!! All you can do, is what you are doing!! We had similar experience with our youngest, but it was her eyes!! WE are so blessed with a GREAT, GODLY, pediatrician!! Anyway, last year when she was in Kindergarten, they screened her eyes at school!! Sent home a note that there might be a problem and we needed to check it out with a Physician of our choice. Of course, we called our Dr. and got a referral. $165 later...........she had perfect vision!! Of course, I was a little upset, having to schedule the appointment and the cost.........but nothing is more important than knowing for SURE that everything is OK!!! So, hang in there, keep an eye on him and keep doing what you are doing!! And we will continue to pray that it is what your Dr. says and just an anxious person who screened him!!!
