I am gonna need some prayer!

I am sure my issue isn't as big as some of yours but if you find time I could use a little prayer. I am going to start my first day of kicking the habbit of smoking tomorrow and I am going to need some help! Please pray that I can overcome this addiction! It may sound lame but it is very difficult for me to quit.

Hey Chase.......it doesn't sound lame......and you are right it will be tough, but I know you can do it!!! As young as you are the sooner you quit the better off you will be way down the road...........besides you will $ave a ton of money over the course of your life....and I ain't just talking about health bills....just think how much a pack of smokes cost and add that up over the course of a month or a year.....LOL I have to admit "I" (as well as almost everyone else) has issues and addictions we deal with.........but once YOU set your mind to it, I know you will be able to do it!!!! I know this group here will be praying that it's EASY for you to quit........I PROMISE I will be!!! Get you some gum and everytime you want to light one up, chew a stick of that. I don't know what your game plan is, but if your mind is ready, then with the Help of God....ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!!!!!

Praying you can kick that habit fast and easy. My half-brother has smoked for the past 5 years, quit for 6 months and then started up again, (I wanted to kick him). When you do quit never look back because it only takes one more time of doing it for it to become a habit all over again.

I quit smoking in December 2006. I had wrecked my car and spent hours outside in the ice and snow waiting for a tow truck and I ended up getting sick. My hubby (who STILL smokes) hounded me about quitting smoking while I was sick. It was not until I was sitting in my car trying to smoke and had a coughing fit did I realize I should quit. (I was very very sick) I quit smoking that day and it was easier since I was sick and could not breathe in the first place but after I got better I did not want them since I remembered the feeling of not being able to breathe. Off and on I have wanted a cigarrette since then (actually only 2-3 times) and since they are still around my house I have let myself light one up and take a couple of drags. It is NASTY now and I never get past 1 or 2 drags then I have to go brush my teeth etc since I hate that taste. I now have made it hard for hubby to smoke at all. We have a new 4 month old baby and if he smokes he needs to come inside and change his shirt, brush his teeth and wash up before he can touch the baby. Needless to say Daddy only smokes about 2 cigarettes a day anymore!

So GOOD LUCK. I started when I was 13 and stopped when I was 31.

Praying for you Chase! Everytime I pray for God to move in my husband's heart to quit his nicotine habit (chew), I'll be praying for you too! Keep us posted on how it's going!!!

Wow, thanks for all of the encouragement guys. It has been 24 hours since my last smoke. Now let's make it another 24!

Congrats! Keep up the good work! WANTING to quit and attempting to do something about it is half the battle. A few more days and it will be easier!

I'm keeping you in my thoughts. Quitting smoking was the hardest thing I ever did and still, after 17 years, I still dream about it sometimes and wake up thinking I have started again.....So, the best of luck to you!

Chase~ I can only imagine how hard it must be to break a habit/addiction like smoking. My husband has recently put down the dip/snuff( not sure what it's really called,lol) He's on his third week w/o out it! I prayed for you this evening and will do so every time God puts you on my mind! Take courage, God will give you strength if you call out to Him. He cares for you so very much and He desires for you to have good health. Just a suggestion, if you could find a scripture that gives you encouragement or strength, you could memorize it and quote it every time you have a craving.?.
