I decided to make a thread for this here so it does not take up chat and this seems better.

Plus I have some questions:

1. Was it easier to start the diet if you got your favorite foods out of the house first or were you not tempted?

2. Any side effects such as mood changes, etc? Like bad pregnancy symptoms?

3. Anyone get morning sickness? They say this is the hormone your body makes while pregnant but if your female does your body act pregnant?

4. What is the best way to mentally prepare for the first few days?

5. Any bad effects (think alli??)

6. Any advice? I printed up all 44 pages of Dr. Simeons book and I am NOT going to have a support person in this but I NEED to do this. I also have a family that likes to snack (I plan on only buying the kind of nsacks they will eat but that I do not like!)

7. Were any of you caffeine addicts before this? How did you prepare to do without the soda? I actually drink WAY too much soda and know I need to cut down first but caffeine withdrawls are BAD.

Also it says no oils and fats in anything including body care items. Any suggestions for soap or body wash adn shampoo? I know the Body Butter will be out adn the Shea and Cocoa butter body wash I use it out. Short of going to the store and reading all the ingredients anyone have any ideas?

Oh a whole thread just for this!!! I love it! OK I will go down the list of questions you asked.

1) I left the normal foods in the house and continued to cook for my family. I felt no need to make them suffer just because I had let myself go. Plus its hard to describe but your not really hungry, and seeing the scale every morning with a 1 to 2 lb lose really motivates you to keep going.

2) I didn't have any side effects really accept for dry skin, maybe I was a little dizzy but I was dizzy before not sure but I think I was dangerously close to diabetes. Oh also you don't go #2 very often, I went about every 7 days. They have a tea you can buy called smooth move to help you out. The hormone is like nothing compared to what your body produces when you are preggo so those things really don't apply. I had a little bit of joint pain in my knee which i'm sure was from the lack of oil in my diet that helps lubricate your joints.

3) No pregnancy symptoms, not enough medicine to cause those. I did get a positive preggo test though, just checked to see if it would come up positive I knew I wasn't pregnant.

4) The best way to mentally prepare is to eat everything in site you know you will miss and make sure to eat a ton of mexican because after the diet it is really hard to find anything mexican to eat. Also to shop ahead of time and have all your food ready to go. Like I would buy 1 lb of 96/4 hamburger meat and weigh it all out on my scale to the 3 1/2 oz stick it in baggies and throw it in the freezer. So that way in the morning I would decide what I wanted and pull it out to dethaw. My favorite thing was the hamburger mixed with the old el paso seasoning and put over diced tomatoes to make like a taco.

5) Oh another thing I forgot to add to the bad effect is I lost a ton of hair after my weight loss, I also lost a ton of hair after having both of my babies. No biggy though it grows back!

6) Snacking was the hardest part for me, my family sits down after dinner and snack on popcorn and everything else and I wanted to so bad sometimes I couldnt stand it! But it was the habit I missed not that I was hungry. Be careful when you make them food, wash your hands quickly to get the oils off. It sounds silly but your skin will soak oils in quickly. Oh I remember in the beginning I had no idea I had this habbit but I would make the kids food and pop things in my mouth as I went, an extra bite here and there I didnt even know I was doing it. I almost did it several times on the diet, or to lick my fingers after I got something on my hands. I tried to be prepared for snack time and I would save my strawberries for the evening and make a shake, or I would get out a lemon (you can have the juice of one lemon daily) and I would sit there and pour salt on it and snack on it. Or I would take lemon and squeeze it over ice and salt it to make a lime ice kind of thing. OHHHHH I almost forgot GUM that helped me so much, I liked Orbit cinnamon and mint.

7) I never had a problem with soda so maybe someone else could help you with this. I made lemonade with truvia, used the vanilla stevia with water, used a blender to chop up ice with water, or lemonade to make a lemon chill type thing. I used truvia with unsweetened tea.

other questions, I used my regular shampoo, with a bar soap, didnt have a problem, but I see your point on the soft soap, maybe get a bar soap for the time being. I stayed away from make up, but then again I am a stay at home mom and live in pajamas.

Last thing is if you need a cheat day have it! I would pick a day and go all out and eat everything in site! Give yourself an evening to go crazy when you absolutely can't stand it anymore. But then get back on it the next day. My mom would have a bite here and there and I always thought that was so crazy because it would mess you up every day instead of one day of major cheating. Good luck and if you have any more questions you can call me anytime!

2. I am having slight head aches at night time, a bit of ditziness, can't think straight at times. A little irriatble. But nothing so bad I can't stand it! Also very dry skin. I have used baby oil to help with this.

3. No prego symptoms. ( would be funny if you did, because guys can do this diet)

Coke answer: I LOVED my Diet Coke! Drank tons ( probably 6 to 8 a day, but sometimes tried to have days with only 3)
Don't even crave it right now. I know weird.

I have lost around 15 pounds in 9 days of starting the diet. (that includes my 2 "load days" where you can eat everything!

So that to me is major motivation. I do plan on having a cheat night on my Bday (11). Then go hard core until the 22 of December. I have mentally prepared myself. I think that was important.
Can't think of anything else, will keep posted.

I am still in shock of the weightloss so far. It really works!

OK I have been reading adn reearching and for the life of me I cannot find where you see what the phases are. i.e., I know phase 1 is the loading phase and that lasts 2 days. After that I am lost as to how long to do each. I know each time lasts 6 weeks. It is just breaksing those 5 weeks and 5 days down. (I am trying to get everything organized and start planning menus etc---can you tell I am hyper organized about some things???) [Just do not look in any drawers or cabinets in my house---I am not responsibly for what jumps out and hits you]

I am going to take the drops for 23 days, then 3 days no drops, continue 500 calories.

You can go longer then 23 days, no more than 40 days or 34 pounds whichever comes first.

(i am guessing this is phase 3)I am then going to take 3 to 4 weeks off, eating low carb, low sugar, then I will go back on the diet for another 26 days.

Hope this helps. So far to date, 21 days on the drops, lost approx. 23 pounds. It has been slow the past few days. So I hope to drop 5 more before I begin phase 3.

Thanks! I found it here too....

Patients who need to lose 15 pounds (7 kg.) or less require 26 days treatment with 23 daily injections. The extra three days are needed because all patients must continue the 500-Calorie diet for three days after the last injection. This is a very essential part of the treatment, because if they start eating normally as long as there is even a trace of HCG in their body they put on weight alarmingly at the end of the treatment. After three days when all the HCG has been eliminated this does not happen, because the blood is then no longer saturated with food and can thus accommodate an extra influx from the intestines without increasing its volume by retaining water.

We never give a treatment lasting less than 26 days, even in patients needing to lose only 5 pounds. It seems that even in the mildest cases of obesity the diencephalon requires about three weeks rest from the maximal exertion to which it has been previously subjected in order to regain fully its normal fat-banking capacity. Clinically this expresses itself, in the fact that, when in these mild cases, treatment is stopped as soon as the weight is normal, which may be achieved in a week, it is much more easily regained than after a full course of 23 injections.

As soon as such patients have lost all their abnormal superfluous fat, they at once begin to feel ravenously hungry in spite of continued injections. This is because HCG only puts abnormal fat into circulation and cannot, in the doses used, liberate normal fat deposits; indeed, it seems to prevent their consumption. As soon as their statistically normal weight is reached, these patients are put on 800-1000 Calories for the rest of the treatment.

The diet is arranged in such a way that the weight remains perfectly stationary and is thus continued for three days after the 23rd injection. Only then are the patients free to eat anything they please except sugar and starches for the next three weeks.

When a patient has more than 15 pounds to lose the treatment takes longer but the maximum we give in a single course is 40 injections, nor do we as a rule allow patients to lose more than 34 lbs. (15 Kg.) at a time. The treatment is stopped when either 34 lbs. have been lost or 40 injections have been given. The only exception we make is in the case of grotesquely obese patients who may be allowed to lose an additional 5-6 lbs. if this occurs before the 40 injections are up.

Yep, the part that gets me is the if you have HCG in your system, you can drastically mess up if you should not follow the plan on those last 3 non HCG days. I have 5 more days after today, and I am ready to be done! This is really my first day of major complaints. So it is not all that bad. I just keep dreaming of what I will look like someday!

I ordered a cookbook today so I can try and avoid bland food and open my horizons a little. I need to do it SEVERAL times to get where I should be so variety will be the key. I hope I do not have complaints since in my house with no support it will be soo easy to snack.

You can do it, just be mentally prepared. I am on day 23 of HCG, and the last few days I did not lose any weight. I lost 2 pounds this morning when I weighted. So that is encouraging. I will not take the HCG after today, and on Wed. I can enjoy a different variety of foods. So far to date, I have lost 25 pounds. Most weight came off at the beginning of the diet, then more slowly. But that is over 1 pound a day, if you averaged it out. I have also droped 2 pant sizes.
