I know this isn't normally the sort of product we review here, but I'm so frustrated with this stupid printer that I am determined to warn people about it! We purchased a new computer package from Best Buy in May, and we're thrilled with the computer. Unfortunately, the printer that came with it is an Epson CX7400 and it's AWFUL. It started out printing just fine, but we learned after our first color cartridge ran out that it will not print at all if any ink cartridge runs out. So if the magenta ink cartridge is empty, you can't even print in black and white. After a little research I learned why: Even if you choose the "black ink only" option in printer set-up, it uses a little bit of color ink every time it prints black. You can't override it. And the ink is expensive - About $20 for black and around $13 each for the color. I'm just going on what other reviewers said about the price of the color ink, because I can only find it here at Wal-Mart in a three pack for $38.88. At the moment, the darn thing won't print black at all - Even thought the ink cartridge is brand new. I've e-mailed Epson for help, but I have a feeling they'll probably tell me it's a bad ink cartridge or something. Luckily, we kept our old printer when we bought this computer. I have a feeling we'll be switching back to it soon and I'll see if I can sell this hunk of junk on EBay or at a garage sale or something.
