*UPDATE*

I am so excited to help Pepsi with their Pepsi Refresh Project during SXSW!  The Pepsi Refresh project is part of an effort to push the world forward by funding great ideas.Pepsi is looking for the best Pro-Social Digital Idea(use technology to refresh the community) and one lucky SXSW attendee will win $50K to help with their project and each runner up will receive a $2,000 Global Giving Gift Card. The best part is ConsumerQueen.com has partnered with Pepsi and we are asking our readers to submit there idea here! I will be choosing the best idea submitted on my blog and will become the campaign manager for  you the “Idea Generator” winner.  I will be campaigning for the winner till the end of the contest and will be tweeting from SXSW the 13th the day the voting process opens . I will also have T-Shirts and Buttons to wear and Pass out at SXSW to help campaign for you! Of course there are rules…..

The Rules:

  • Idea must be submitted by Sunday March 7th at midnight CST.
  • Idea must come from a SXSW attendee.
  • Projects must be carried out for Charitable, community, or educational purposes, and must have their entire impact within the United States or the District of Columbia.
  • Projects must be capable of being completed within 12 months.
  • Projects must provide a sufficient level of detail to show each of the specific activities that will be carried out.
  • Projects must not principally benefit a specific individual,as opposed to the community.
  • Projects must not violate any of the conditions in section 7.b of the application guidelines.
  • Organizations must designate one individual to submit the application on its behalf.
  • Applications may not use any copyrighted material without permission
  • The idea does need to follow all of the PRP application guidelines, exceptions are of course application timing, grant amount and the categories.

Here are some tips for submissions:

1.  Projects with clear, tangible goals stand out. The best ideas articulate an unmet need, describe a clear plan for addressing that need, and show specific public-benefit outcomes to happen in the next year.

2. International activity. The Pepsi Refresh Project is currently limited to projects based in the U.S., with grant money spent in the U.S. and of benefit to communities here.

3. Logos in images or videos. You may choose to submit a video or image to go along with the grant application, thought it is not required. If you do choose to submit a video or image, third party logos or unlicensed images are not allowed in video submissions.

4. Music & video length. If you choose to have music in the optional video portion of your application, then you should only use music from our list of Creative Commons-approved tracks: www.good.is/cctracks. Videos should not exceed 3 minutes in length.

5. Public benefit. Projects must have a clear public benefit, and cannot be of benefit only to one or several individuals. In cases where your submission requires grant money for salary or overhead, you should stipulate why this is necessary and how the project will be of public benefit.

6. Religious or political advocacy. As the official guidelines specify, please be sure your idea does not directly involvepolitical or religious advocacy. Ideas from religious groups that articulate a clear public benefit and do not involvereligious advocacy are ok; those that specify advocacy will not be accepted.

7. Inventions. If you have an idea for an invention, you must provide enough detail to show how you can create a clear public benefit from your invention in the next 12 months, and you should include specific milestones in your application.

8. Non-profit affiliations. If your idea requires the support of a local government, non-profit or business, please specify whether they’ve agreed to collaborate with you in the event that your project receives a grant.

Ok are you ready? Submit your idea here via blog post and we will choose a winner!

One more thing we will be going up against some other major Digital Influencers like Mashable so I will need you help to make this a success!  Voting will take place publicly via Twitter with a unique hashtag for our Team! Help us spread the word by tweeting:

  1. My entry for the Pepsi Refresh Project:
    Give a Little - Give a Lot
    Virtual Food Drive.
This is different than a normal food drive or even a normal Virtual Food drive.
How? Because the purpose is not only to raise money for food pantries and banks....but the other MAIN purpose is to EDUCATE the public about Food Drives.
They need to learn that a food pantry needs people to donate cash rather than cans. The food pantries are able to purchase food for a deep discount from the food banks.
With the $1 that someone may pay for a can of food they donate to a food drive. ....with that same $1 a food pantry can buy about 24 cans of food from the food bank. It will feed 23 more people!
This education will be far reaching...way past this promotion.
Have a Virtual Grocery Store. People will get a virtual cart and after they donate their money (lets say $10) they will get to fill their cart with the amount of food their donation will buy if a food pantry was using it. It will let people visually see how much food their cash is accomplishing as compared to their can of food.
When they check out at the virtual grocery store, there food will be put into a virtual jig saw puzzle and will build a picture of people who actually are benefitting from food pantries.
There will also be state to state contest going on. For the state that raises the most donations they will get a sum of money from Pepsi that will be split up between the small food pantries in that state.
Here is my link for my video telling you about it.
