Here at the ConsumerQueen house we like to play games. So when Hasbro sent us some games to try out we were really excited! With the economy the way it is right now, board games offer the family an opportunity to spend quality time together without spending a lot of money. It also gives parents time to teach their kids some important things while they are having fun!
I think MONOPOLY is one of my son’s favorite games. What he doesn’t realize is that this game is teaching him things while he playing! While he is playing he is learning how to handle money, make a budget so he can buy the properties he likes and how to make change. I think all these are important for a kid to learn. They are things that they will be using for the rest of their lives.
Battleship and Clue are some other games that challenge your child’s mind while they are playing. These games are great for your child by making them use their imagination. They also have to remember facts and then use those facts so they can win the game. Not to mention Battleship is great for increasing memory skills.
I think having one night a week set aside for “game night” is a fun way for parents to spend time with their kids. It doesn’t cost a lot of money and you can use this time to learn more about your child. I know our kids love it and I think yours might to.

Our family loves Monopoly! It is all out COMPETITION with each one that plays!
There are a lot of games I love to play but on the website my favorite was the Disney Edition of Monopoly. I’m a huge Disney trivia nut so I think I’d include that in the rules. Maybe combine it with the cards from Disney Scene-It to make the game a bit more challenging.

Our favorite is monopoly!, to make this a special family night, we pick a night that is agreeable for everyone, adjust the rules abit for the younger ones to include them and to insure fair play. Get everyone to communicate and talk with each other, and last NO VIDEO GAMES on that night.

I like scrabble when we play in teams, but for the whole family its definitely monopoly- the money and being banker, you have to be patient but boy its neat when they really turn into bankers and count fast and learn about selling houses and taxes on property.

My husband is a big boardgamer, so it’s not hard to get him to play games…he’s just not always willing to play the games that I want to play. I’ve been dying to learn how to play Scrabble since the winter – and I miss Battleship! Takes me back to 4th grade tournaments…
I would make game night special by playing TWO games (I am famous for playing one once per night).

I used to love connect four and cant wait to play it with my daughter. Its fun and challenging!
I couldn’t get the link in the post above to work, so I just searched through the website for the age of my kids. My favorite game now is scrabble. Even the younger kids are getting into it. I’d make our game night special by instituting a nap in the afternoon so no one was grouchy in the evening. Even me
Thanks!

I love Crazy Old Fish War!
My favorite game is Guesstures. We used to play with the high school kids (I’m a volunteer youth leader) over at our youth guy’s house, hang out with his family and have ice cream. Great times. Now we’ve got a new youth guy, who doesn’t own Guesstures or have a family (yet). I’m trying to convince him to restart games night at my house. Having a few more games to offer would help out. Thanks for the chance to win!
Family Game Night website isno longer available but I choose MONOPOLY with my grandkids, daughter and son-in-law, and we make snacks and eat and play. As someone gets out they can play Wii so they’re still active and nearby

My favorite game is Boggle! Popcorn always makes our game night special. My children love game night and are always asking to have game night.
I have to say scrabble, hands down because it is a huge part of my family’s history. My great grandmother came here from Ireland in the 1930’s with her husband and 4 kids. She learned English, and when scrabble came out she used it to help brush up her vocabulary. As long as I could remember my mom and her cousins sat around the table and played scrabble with my great grandmother. It was the greatest challenge to beat her, but near impossible. She died about 10 years ago but my family still comes together around the table to play a game of scrabble and honor her memory.

I love Clue and Scrabble. Our family makes Game Nights special by having them as a way to wind down after a big family holiday get- together (Christmas, Thanksgiving, 4th of July, etc.). They have become a family tradition.
