I decided to take my own advice this week and did the CVS shopping scenario that we posted about earlier this week!

It worked out great. I did have an extra CVS cpn not mentioned in the scenario that popped out of the CVS scanner. Of course right after I did it I received a $3 off an Olay (and others) $15 purchase…it figures LOL!

Transaction #1:

3 Olay Facial Cloths 30-33 ct. $3.74
3 Olay Body Washes $5.99 ea.
Subtotal: $29.19
Used (3) Get FREE Olay Body Wash wyb Olay Facial Cloths or Cleansers P&G 7-22 (exp. 8-31)
(Cpn excludes Pro-X, Regenerist, Total Effects, Age Defying & trial)
AND used $2.00 off $10 Beauty Purchase – CVS scanner cpn
AND used $2.00 off any Body wash purchase of $8 or more
Used $5.00 ECB from last week’s scenario
Used 1.75 in ECB from previous shopping trip
Final price: paid $.47 + got $5 ECB

Although there has been much chatter about using (2) $3.00/2 Olay cpns along with the BOGO cpn it’s really not a legit use of the cpn! The cpn is a $3.00/2 that means you have to buy 2 products in order to use the cpn. Therefore the cpn links to both the cleanser AND the body wash. You cannot legitimately use 2 manufacturer’s cpns on one item and if you use the $3.00/2 you couldn’t use another cpn on either item.

Even if a cpn scans without beeping doesn’t mean it’s ok to use it. CVS will not be reimbursed for both cpns. Manufacturer’s call that double dipping and CVS loses out :(

Transaction #2

4 Suave De0dorants $1.00 ea.
4 Suave Body Washes 2/$4.00
2 Herbal Essences or Aussie Hair Care 2/$6.00
Subtotal: $18.00
Used (2) $.75/1 Suave Body Wash (limit 2 per transaction)
Used (2) .50/2 Suave Body Wash (limit 2 per transaction)
Used (4) .50/1 or .75/1 Suave Deodorant RP (#1) 7-29
Used $1.00/2 Herbal Essences or Aussie P&G 7-1 (exp. 7-31)
Used $1.00/2 Herabal essences or Aussie – CVS Scanner cpn
Used $5.00 ECB from transaction #1
Final price: paid $4.60+ get $4 ECB (Suave) + $1 ECB (Herbal Essences)

Grand Total: paid $5.07 out of pocket + got $5.00 ECB and since everything from both scenarios applied to my Beauty Club purchases it put me over the $50 and I’ll get $5 more ECB next time I shop :)

Thanks for clarifying that with the 2 cpn… I have those cvs cpns as well. Need to go there, I still have to see if I can switch my gas card for a cvs card since every time I go they never have the gas card I want…

Alona, at my CVS they only have 2 gas cards to choose from: Shell and Mobile (I think). I bet they would trade you :) ~ Queen Mum

Can you use a $/2 coupon and a bogo? A while back I had a scanner coupon for bogo free skinny water and s manufacturers $1 off 2the skinny water. The cashier told me I couldn’t use them together b/c I was only buying one, the other one was free! I really think she’s wrong here. What is your take on it?

Theresa, if one of the cpns is a manufacturer’s and one is a CVS cpn there shouldn’t be a problem. I think your cashier was just confused. CVS cpns and manufacturer’s cpns are independent of each other and they would still get their money from the manufacturer’s cpn because the free one is a CVS promo (CVS is essentially paying for it). Unfortunately a store has the right to refuse a coupon even if it’s legit. Hope this helps:)

I researched the CVS coupon policy to see if I could use two mnfg. coupons for the Olay. I had the buy the facial cleaner and get the body wash for free, and I was wondering if I could use the $3.00 off on two facial cleaners as well as two BOGOs,and according to their coupon policy listed on the web, it states that you can use two mnfg. coupons, as long as it does not exceed the item total. My store Manager verified it, and I was able to use the two BOGOs, and the one $3.00 off the two facial cleaners.

Brenda, I just looked up the policy and what you are referring to reads like this “Two coupons may be used on a Buy One, Get One Free promotion as long as it does not exceed the item total. That means you can use two cpns when CVS has an item on sale BOGO free. A promotion is a sale and not a cpn:)

Here’s the link to the coupon policy I read: http://www.cvs.com/bizcontent/general/help/coupon-policy.pdf

I just want to reiterate, this was the policy for the BOGO.
