Tropicana Carbon Foot Printing Video with Consumer Queen!

As you may recall I was invited to Florida to visit Tropicana’s orange grove and tour the plant. I was there to find out exactly what they were doing about their carbon footprint and to make a video to show all of you at home just exactly what was going on. I was very excited that I was able to take The Consumer King with me and they will be sending me a $500 check which will be donated to one of the charities that we support at church, Rivers 0f Mercy. Which is a Children’s Orphanage!

The orange groves were amazing! You could actually smell the oranges as you walked through. It was really exciting to find out they do not waste any part of the orange. Every bit of it is used. As we walked through the groves we looked for wild pigs/boars that frequent there but we did not see any but we saw their trail of eaten oranges LOL! I thought it was great how they embrace the wildlife there. We almost saw an Alligator but as we got closer it ducked under water as they are more afraid of us than we are to them. It was great to be able to walk through with a guide that could tell us the process that goes into growing oranges. The best part was when they let us pull oranges right off the trees for a taste test. I was in heaven! They even showed Daniel and I a new way to eat oranges where you peal the orange , take the core out the top and jab a knife into the juice pockets and then use the orange as a cup.(I will have to do a video on this for you guys)

When we got  to the plant our tour guide Bud (worked for Tropicana for 30+ years) was  waiting for us. He was WONDERFUL ! He knew everything there was to know about Tropicana and he took his time to make sure we saw everything. He even took juice right off the line so we could taste it. As I was busy making the video he sat with Daniel and kept him company. He was so nice of him and it was very thoughtful. (Hey Pepsi this guy needs a raise , he’s a keeper LOL)

Ok I now have a new outlook for people who do these types of videos/commercials. I never knew it would be so hard.We must have done a million retakes because we would be in the middle of shooting and a trucker would drive by and honk his horn or people would drive by and hollar at me and wave LOL. Then there is the weather. It was so windy and my hair kept blowing in my face during the shots. I had to squint most of the time because the sun was always directly at me LOL.  Tropicana was so good and patient with me but hey I guess they are professionals right? They said that this was normal when shooting videos outside. I had so much fun doing it though and I learned allot as well.

This video will be published on PepsiCo.com on Tuesday and I will be posting an Interview with Tropicana that I did on their Carbon Foot Printing as well as some Carbon Foot Printing tips next week!
