Ok I have been saying that Old Navy should offer more coupons for a long time. I hated that I would recieve coupons in the mail but could only use them if I used my Old Navy Credit Card. To me that is not really saving. I have all my credit cards paid off and I do not want to rack up another bill just to use a coupon.

Well recently Old navy started a promotion on OldNavyWeekly.Com at first I thought Yeah Old Navy is finally listening to us! They were putting out coupons for $75/$100, $50/ $100,$45 off and many more. I thought it was very clever how they did the website where it was like a scavenger hunt to be able to find the coupons. There were secret things you could do, sort of an interactive website, in order to get the coupons. I won't post the secrets here because I  don't want to upset my frugal shoppers nor do I want to spoil the fun for Old Navy.

The only thing wrong with this promotion is you have to sit by your computer and just wait till the website refreshes and you never know when that is going to be. I am mom of 2 and I work full time. So I do not have time to sit in front of my computer all day long in hopes to get a coupon.

Here's the other thing. People who really want to use the coupon in the store are not getting them. People are sitting by their computers waiting for the coupons, gobbling them up and then selling and trading them. There are a ton of them popping up on Ebay? So even if you are a regular shopper and you sit all day by your computer you may not get one because the resellers are grabbing them all up!

Third Issue: People that do get them are taking them to the store and the stores are refusing to take them? Either cashiers did not know about the promotion or they thought they were fake. This is not good PR.

The reason for this post is I am getting emails from readers who are having these very same issues and they need to be heard.

Old Navy... We love that you are coming out with more coupons.... we even love that you are making it fun. Please re-think how you do your promotions in the future. What about coupons for your loyal shoppers who subscribe by email. What about coupons for your loyal shoppers who don't have access to the internet?

If you have something to say about this promotion please post here! We want to know your likes and dislikes. Do you have an idea that Old Navy could use for future promotions we want to hear that to! This is your chance to be heard!

P.S. I would like to say Thank you to all those nice people out there who have been kind enough to help those who really need the coupons get them before the resellers do.

Great post, Melissa! I really liked the site at the beginning, but apparently they got really good at hiding the coupons, and the hunt went from fun to frustrating. It might be probably because, as you say, the coupon traders were getting them all!

Anyway, I really agree with you and they should try a new way to offer coupons to their loyal customers. (Some stores ask you for your phone number during checkout and will mail you coupons depending on how frequently you buy!)

I think the idea is good, however like you said, the people who are regular shoppers dont have the time to wait for each reset because they work and have kids and just dont have the time. I dont have any kids, and am off monday-wednesday and i STILL havent gotten a “good coupon” and ill tell ya, ive tried! The best i got was a $20 off $100. Im on a tight budget and dont have the money to spend that much all in one trip. I have also heard that people are reseting their routers so the site doesnt recognize their ip address so they can get more coupons. I think this is unfair because the average consumer is going to miss out on the high value coupons because of it!

You know I waited up so that I could get a good coupon and with-in 15 minutes of the start there were people already posting them on ebay. Or should I say person….I think that they should give a certain time that it will be re-freshed and people not being greedy!!!

I have been searching from the beginning and yes it was easier to get the really good q’s before the last 3 weeks, but this week was better. I actually got a 75 for myself and several 50′s for all my friends and family! And with one big release it really helped to give a fair chance to get them. I have heard several complaints about mountain time and est people not even having the chance to get the 50′s this week as well and dont think that was very fair. I have to admit that I dont have time to be sitting waiting all day to get these q’s but that is the great thing about hunting in a chat because you can leave it up and have a code noise when the site changes so you dont have to be on 24/7. You just hav eto be in ear shot all day, which still I understand not everyone is a stay at home mom like me. On another note I am very happy they are not doing the multiple releases because the scriptors were getting them all in less than a min. I love this promotion and I hope more stores will catch on to this!!! I just wish it were more hacker proof!

I have been hunting for coupons since the beginning. I have never been able to get a $75/$100. I did “stalk” the site and hunt and found a $60/$100 only to pack the kids up into the car, go inside and find my merchandise. Once I got to the cash register I found out that the coupon I had spent all night hunting for was used by someone else. It was very fustrating, not to mention embarrasing telling the clerk that I could not purchase the items. Afterall I had budgeted $40 for clothes not $100.00. The people behind me looked at me like I was weird also.

I cannot normally afford to purchase Old Navy clothes since my budget it soo tight. I try and purchase most items with coupons while they are on sale. This was a very fun promotion in the beginning and now it has become a playplace for hackers. One would think that Old Navy could better secure this promotion. Also the times the website reloads makes it hard for working parents to get coupons. Last night the reload was at 11:00pm CST. This is midnight for the people on the east coast. Not really fair. In the beginning coupon reloads were weekly around 7:00pm. Now they are starting with 3am and 12pm times. Come on Old Navy be reasonable. I love the idea, but the hackers are starting to ruin it. $75/100 coupons are selling for $25 on E-Bay right now. I cannot get one legitimately and I have tried and stayed up all night sometimes but others have beat the system and sell them for profit. Does not seem like good customer service to me.

If there was a fair way to get coupons I would love to know about it. My kids need nice clothes but without coupons it is back to the thrift store for us!

Well said! When I first found out about this a few weeks ago, I got the lowest coupon on the site. The next week, I stayed up ALL night to try and get a coupon, and at 4am it reloaded, by 4:05, the good ones were gone! It just doesnt seem fair, to find all the good coupons for sale on Ebay, when there are loyal Old Navy fans that really would enjoy these coupons!
Ive seen alot of people say that they are just going to give up on this, and unless Old Navy finds a new way to make it fair, Im pretty sure there will be alot more!

i started hunting this site about a month ago, i had no idea that it’s been going on for a while. I agree, things aren’t right, but some people do get the good coupons if they spend the time on there and with lots of luck. I got a 50 off 100 coupon last night..yes i stalked that site off and on all day, it updated at 11pm…but everyone please remember, all of us want the “good one” but there are usually plenty of the “decent ones” How many other stores offer a 50 off 100 right now? i’m grateful for the ones i do get, get mad at the ones i miss. But it’s still the best promotion going on right now, i don’t see other stores do anything similar.

This seems like so much fun, and the coupons are always gone by the time I get there! It also crashes my browser every time I do find one (and they’re never the “big ones”)

2babies1momma….How do you do hunt through a chat room? (hunting in a chat because you can leave it up and have a code noise when the site changes so you dont have to be on 24/7)

I am obsessed with trying to land a big coupon…..but it’s difficult when you don’t know when the site will refresh.

I hate all those people that resell the coupons on Ebay. They should get a real job and let the people who really need the coupons…get them themselves. Ebay should prohibit them from selling these…and other coupons. By the time Ebay takes their fees…what does the person make…$5? These people really need to get a life!

We have a chat for all the consumerqueen members. I check every week and no one is on it. So I will continue to check and if you guys want to meet up, we can stalk the site together and if you have to step away we can make a sound when the site goes live so you can run back and have a shot at getting one.

I tried finding a coupon three times today and spent about 15 minutes each time with no luck finding anything. I had no idea if I was doing it wrong or if they were gone. Guess after reading this post they were probably gone. I received an email about this promotion and clicked on it immediately and found nothing. Maybe a random generated coupon emailed to their subscribers with a scratch to win coupon $75/$100 , $50/$100 ,$20/$100 match 3 alike and win that amount with all available on each but it’s by luck if you scratch 3 like amounts so that way every scratch to win coupon can win any of the amounts if the recipient scratches 3 matching boxes. Kind of like a lottery ticket except every coupon has the potential to win any of the 3 amounts. Some will win, some won’t. Some will win big , other will win small, but all have the same odds and only one coupon to scratch. I think that would be fair plus if they didn’t win or win big it’s because of the box’s that they chose themselves since every coupon had the potential to win all of the amounts equally. I’m not complaining though because any coupon is better than no coupon and since Old Navy is offering a promotion I thank them for that. I’m grateful for the opportunity to try and receive a coupon even if I don’t find one.

Another point to add is what about the loyal customer who would love coupons, but lives in the sticks and does not have high speed internet. That would be me, and the website will not even come up on my computer!

I downloaded a coupon, (believe it was $50 off $100) some months ago, sent my son to the store with the coupon and when he got to the register they would not honor it. Said it had been used before. Very frustrating. We called headquarters and they refused to help us. Will not shop there again.

I agree that they should rethink this promotion. I also have noticed that since Old Navy has started the coupon hunt, their clearance prices on their clothes in stores have stayed fairly high. If the tradeoff for the coupons is higher prices, it really isn’t a great deal.

To everyone complaining about this website…
Seriously? If you are on that tight of a budget and really need these coupons, then by all means you should be one of the main people that are constantly watching your computer for the site to update. I have a 2 year old and logged into the website every chance I got to see if the coupons were up yet. I finally set my alarm for 11:50 PM last Sunday and sure enough the website refreshed at 11:59 PM. If you really want them you have to be able to do some work to get it. You can depend on Old Navy to give them to you. Once you find a coupon you enter your email address and it is sent to you.

To Karen who said her coupon was already used by someone else, I find that hard to believe unless you were given it by someone who was not honest with you.

And to Rebecca, who complaining about getting pushed over for 99 cent UGLY flip flops which you didnt get any- why do you care if they are ugly?

Rather than complaining and giving up because “it’s not fair”, go on and actually make an effort to get one. Yes, it is hard. No one said it was easy, but they are giving you $75.00 worth of free merchandise! What do you expect!?

One last thing, the coupons are not gone within 5 minutes like Kristy Hostetler said. I was on last Sunday and the last 75/100 coupon went around 12:30 AM. 30 mins later.

Like I said, it isnt easy. I’ve been trying for 2 weeks and have never landed a big one, just smaller ones and I am not going to bad mouth the store for not being fair. It is a very good marketing technique if I must say and it keeps me coming back each week to try to land the big one. I wont stop until I get it.

Happy Hunting!

I have been going to this website at least once a day for 2 weeks (sometimes more) I have yet to hit the right time for a coupon. I believe that the Old Navy coupon deals are like Sasquatch, sometimes sighted but never captured.

Good luck to those of you that persevere and actually get one. I am going back to my sewing machine.

I totally agree 100% with you about the Old Navy Weekly Coupons. I found out about it by mistake and every time I go on all of the good coupons are gone. I also agree about sitting and waiting for the website to update just to get the new coupons. i have tried to find an easier way to catch it but I find myself missing out because I too can not sit on the computer until 4:00 am either. I am a cardholder and agree that maybe they should give more than that $10.00 off because you have to spend enough just to get it. Hopefully Old Navy will see all of this and change some things. They should also let the coupons be used for Gap too. I am glad that I came across the article in the paper so that I could let you know that I feel the same way.

I’m one of those full time working single mom’s who just wants to get coupons to get the kids summer clothes. I guess the hackers get them all. One night I stayed up almost all night getting up every hour on the hour to check! I had no sleep and had to make it through the rest of the day. And I didn’t get a darn thing! It ended up setting the NEXT day. I would think they know who their loyal customers are by mail and email. I know I get stuff in the mail all the time but nothing good like this. Like the others said, IF you use your credit card. It is starting to seem like it is not fair. I may just move on to another store and stop the frustration. Good post though, I could not agree with you more.

I have been watching the site all day and night(I brought laptop in bedroom with me and woke up peridically to check it). I found out that it reloaded early this morning. I checked and still said was fixing site. My computer I guess is not fast enough to keep up with the site. I waited all that time for not even a chance to get a coupon. I can afford to spend 25 dollars, not 80. Heartbreaking that people who don’t even want them get them to sell on ebay! And they get around the rules by saying you are bidding on the time it took them to get the coupon. Sad sad world we live in. We should go back to the way things were before Ebay.

Heartbreaking that people who don’t even want them get them to sell on ebay! i’m just frustrated b/c i have shopped at old navy since they opened and am a very loyal shopper with 4 daughters and i’ve been able to get one coupon – ONE coupon. i’ve been online the moment they are released – even slept with my laptop — and gotten one coupon. it’s really frustrating.

All of the comments are dead on in regards to the O.N. promotion. I am a SAHM, and still don’t have the time to sit by the computer all day and night to get a coupon that’s a “super deal”, I do have a house to run and small children to care for and a tight budget and could really use every budgeting edge I can get. I am so frustrated and angry that there are people who are taking advantage of this by selling the coupons on ebay and tricking the system so that they can get multiple coupons. Isn’t there some way that ebay can prohibit the sale of these? Can’t O.N. find a way to keep people from gobbling up the biggest savings each week? Like limiting the number of times you can take the largest coupons? There has to be a way to make this promotion run more smoothly. Great idea, but definitely flawed in it’s execution. Thanks for giving us a forum to vent!
