Qtrax, which promised to offer free legal sharing of music files, said it delayed the service after major music companies whose support it touted denied they had agreed to provide songs.
Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group Corp. and EMI Group Ltd. all said in the past two days they did not have agreements in place with Qtrax. Qtrax said it planned to use technology that connects users’ computers so they can share audio files.
