I had the pleasure of interviewing Carrie Ann Inaba one of the judges on Dancing with the Stars. Carrie Anne is helping to kick off the Give Hope program. Give hope is a partnership with Proctor & Gamble and the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.(NBCF) to help increase women's chances of survival from breast cancer through early detection.Carrie Ann is dedicated to helping spread the word about this worthwhile program and about the importance of early detection because her mom was fortunate enough to have caught the disease early and is currently in remission. This is something that is dear to me also as I lost my great-grandmother to breast cancer. Not only am I saving money but I am able to give back to a great cause!
Today (Sunday the 27th), a special GIVE HOPE edition of the P&G brandSAVER coupon booklet will be distributed in newspapers across the country. For every coupon redeemed from that supplement, P&G will donate two-cents to the NBCF, an organization whose mission is to save lives through breast cancer education and provide mammograms for those in need. Did you know that 1 in 8 women will be affected? Carrie Ann wants to remind everyone not to forget to do your at home checks. You can go to Mypinkplan.com where you can get email alerts and text as reminders for checkups. Below is the interview I did with Carrie Ann.
CQ: Why is breast cancer awareness so important to you?
Carrie Ann: My mom was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer last year and had to have a mastectomy and went through Chemo. She is currently in the healing process and participated in the Revlon Run walk with me.
CQ: If you could say one thing to get women to really understand how important it is to stay on top of their mammograms etc. What would that be?
Carrie Ann: Early detection is key! You only have one life to live so live it well.
CQ: Inquiring minds want to know, do you use coupons?
Carrie: Yes!! Why do people think that we are different? We are just like you, it's about being smart with your money. The first thing I do on Sundays is get the Sunday paper, grab my scissors and head straight for the coupons. My favorite stores is Marshalls and Target.
CQ: Love that!!!!!!!!!!
CQ: What is the best part of being a judge on Dancing with the Stars?
Carrie Ann: Seeing people who have never danced before find the joy of dancing. It's very liberating.
CQ: Who is your favorite contestant so far this year on the show?
Carrie Ann: My favorite contestant is Kelly Osbourne this cycle. She is so exciting to watch as she improves and has such a natural grace and rhythm when she dances. It’s always fascinating and fun to watch the contestants who are not athletes or natural dancers, since they have to work even harder to learn the real dance steps as they progress on the show.
CQ: Is there another dance war between you and Bruno in the future?
Carrie Ann: (she laughs) No ! We have a dance war everyday back stage !
A big thank you to Carrie Ann for speaking to me. Don't forget to get your Sunday paper and grab the P&G insert. You can save money while making a difference in someones life!
