As part of the Walmart 11 Moms program I was given the chance to purchase an iphone and blog about my purchasing experience. I was totally thrilled and jumped at the chance to tell them what I thought.Below are the details of the outcome.

Day 1: I called my father-in-law and asked him to come with me since we had a business account and that I may need some information about the business. We get there and I asked the young man if he could help me and he said we do not deal with business accts here. I said Oh ! well I believe a friend had the same kind of acct but actually worked it out with AT& T, could we call and ask them? He refused, he also refused to get a manager when I asked. Just kept saying we are not allowed to do business accts. Finally when the manager came over he told the young man to call AT&T and the guy said but we are not supposed to do business accts. The manger looked at him and said would you just call them? I was really upset at this point because the young man did not care to listen to me or the manager. He may have been right about not being able to do a business acct but his whole attitude of not wanting to even make a call or listen to his authority made me upset. After an 1 hour we left with no phone.

Day 2: I went back to Walmart after talking to AT&T. Found out there was a way around this we just needed to go a different route. I met Talicia who was very sweet, pleasant and willing to assist me. She was wonderful! I spent 2 1/2 hours at the store getting my phone. I felt really bad for the girl because AT&T was giving her such a hard time. Telling her one thing and then another. She was doing a really great job, bless her heart, at one time she had a phone up to each ear with a different AT&T person on both lines LOL.

As I sat there waiting I must have had like 6 people come up and ask me if I needed any assistance. Everyone was so friendly. I also had 2 other electronics managers come over to help Talicia. Toni and Sherry and both were really nice.

I did end up leaving with a phone and I am very grateful to Walmart for giving me this opportunity but I was late getting back to work over 1 hr and 1/2 so that was not good.

I will also say that while Walmart does a great job in their phone dept. AT&T does not give Walmart enough information and leverage yet to do what they need to do. They kind of make it almost impossible to get a phone at Walmart. I don't know maybe the reps at AT&T just do not have the right info either.

While I would love to say go purchase your phone at Walmart, what I really have to say is maybe wait til AT&T can work with Walmart a little better to make sure the transaction goes smoothly and in a more timly fashion for the customer.

I bought an iPhone last Saturday at our Wal-mart….it took about 15 minutes. I couldn’t asked for anything better! I’m actually using it right now…I love my new phone and Wal-mart! Sorry you had less than a perfect shopping trip. My only complaint is my difficulty learning how to type on this silly thing.

AT&T doesn’t work up here by us but our Wal-mart has a kiosk for US Cellular. Personally wish AT&T would get service past the bridge. I’ve never had a bad experience at Wal-mart 98% of the time the employees are very helpful. Hope you like your phone!

LOL Shelby you too? I took me awhile to figure it out but I am starting to get the hang of it!

15mins? Holy cow thats great. Most of the moms had to wait at least 1 hour. But like I said I think that was AT&T’s fault not Walmart. They were making it difficult for the poor lady helping me.

I’m sorry you had such a hard time getting your phone. I don’t have a business account so I guess that’s why it was so easy when I got my iphone at Walmart. They actually price matched Best Buy too. I got mine for $187 before taxes. Not a huge savings but every penny counts.
