January 11, 2013 (WPVI) — Parent company SuperValu is selling Acme and several other grocery store chains in a super-sized $3.3 billion deal.An investor group led by Cerberus Capital Management has bought 877 stores, which includes every Acme location. The group will acquire the stores for $100 million in cash, and the new company will assume $3.2 billion in existing debt. The deal also includes four other grocery chains not found in our area – Albertsons, Jewel-Osco, Shaws and Star Market. SuperValu will be keeping its Save-A-Lot stores and Shop n’ Save brand.
