I absolutely hate doing laundry. Well, I don’t mind actually doing the washing and drying but I hate sorting and folding, Uggh! Luckily the Consumer King doesn’t mind doing it. Which is good because if your house is anything like my house, then you know what I am talking about. Clothes on the bathroom floor, sitting on the bedroom floor right next to the hamper etc, etc. You get the picture. We don’t have a laundry room so we have to fold our laundry on the couch in the living room which I absolutely hate. We’re hoping to start house hunting in Jan. and eventually have a laundry room. Although I’m sure a lot of you feel the same way I do, some of you may actually like doing laundry (wishful thinking LOL!). I thought it would be fun to share some laundry tips with you and then see what laundry tips you may have to share as well.
Hate running out of dryer sheets? You can make your own dryer sheets at home.
Make your own dryer sheets: Use your favorite Tupperware container and use 2 parts water and 1 part of your favorite liquid fabric softener. Take 2 kitchen sponges and cut them in 1/2. Toss them in and let them soak over night. When done, ring one out and toss in the dryer. They can be reused over and over and just think how many dryer sheets you can get out of a bottle? Be sure and keep it air tight and you can color code your sponges so you can remember which ones need to soak. For more tips with dryer sheets click here!
White Vinegar: White Vinegar can be used in laundry to help fight stains and help with musty odors and pet odors. It works with your normal detergent to help fight stains and I have heard it also works as a fabric softner.
Lint Filters: Cleaning out your lint filter after every load is very important. Lint can build up and cause a house fire. It’s also a good idea to seasonally check your hoses to make sure there is no lint build up.
Clean your appliances: Don’t use harsh chemicals on your washer and dryer. Some of them have baked on enamel and could easily chip. Use a mild dish soap to keep them clean.
Salt? I have heard that adding a 1/2 cup of salt to your wash can help keep new fabric colors from running? But I am not sure what the effects it would have on your machine. Has anyone tried this? I’ve also heard it helps to clean your iron and adding it to your strach will keep clothes from sticking to your iron.
These are just a few tips. I have been chosen with a few other bloggers to work with Clorox and Collective Bias to develop the Complete the Cycle Laundry Regimen. They gave us a GC card that I took to Walmart and purchased my normal laundry products and then documented my laundry routines. Once they gathered all the information from us they created the laundry guide. It’s basically a cheat sheet chocked full of tips. I would love for you to check it out and tell me what you think!
Here is where the exciting part comes in! Thanks to Collective Bias and Clorox I will be giving away 5 Laundry kits !

CQ Children’s Christmas Charity Event!
Every Year we do a charity event around Christmas and this year we are looking to help out a local children’s charity but we need your help picking a charity! We would like for it to be a place where children stay or come to play as we may have some bigger items that could help furnish a play room etc. We would like for it to be a charity who may not get noticed or get much help but welcome any and all ideas!
If you would like to nominate a charity for us to work on please post your nomination here! Tell us why you think we should pick them. We would also like to know the age range of kids and where the charity is located!
We are also looking to host a Local Tweet up for this event and get the media inolved! We are looking for a place that may want to volunteer a space for the Tweet up! This is a charity event and no profit will be made on the event. Any proceeds we generate or IF we generate will all be donated to the charity itself!
If you would love to get your company or brand involved in this event or donate product etc for the charity please contact me at Promotions@ConsumerQueen.com . We welcome all other ideas as well!
