Set aside the bread and serve this ham and cheese melt on puff pastry instead. Sweet and savory never tasted so good...especially when topped with a sprinkle of confectioners' sugar.

Ingredients

1 egg
1 tablespoon water
All-purpose flour
1/2 of a 17.3-ounce package Pepperidge Farm® Puff Pastry Sheets (1 sheet), thawed
8 thin slices deli Black Forest ham
4 slices deli Swiss cheese (about 4 ounces)
Confectioners' sugar
Pure maple syrup

Directions

Heat the oven to 400°F. Beat the egg and water in a small bowl with a fork. Sprinkle the flour on the work suface. Unfold the pastry sheet on the work surface. Roll the pastry sheet into a 12-inch square. Cut into 4 (6-inch) squares. Brush the edges of the pastries with the egg mixture.

With a corner of 1 pastry facing you, place 2 slices ham and 1 slice cheese on the bottom half of the pastry. Fold the pastry over the filling to form a triangle and press the edges to seal. Crimp the edges with a fork. Repeat with the remaining pastries. Brush the pastries with the egg mixture. Place the pastries onto a baking sheet.

Bake for 20 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown. Sprinkle the pastries with the confectioners' sugar. Serve with the maple
Easy Substitution: For a savory twist, serve with Dijon-style mustard instead of the maple syrup.

While in Hershey PA. I was privileged to be invited to visit the Milton Hershey School for a cookie exchange with some of the kids. These children in need live at the school until they graduate from high school and are housed, clothed, fed and educated free of charge. Some of the situations these children come from would break your heart! They are placed 9-12 children per house and and nurtured by house parents (a married couple) in a loving but structured environment. There are 1800 children at the school currently with more hopefully to be added next year. Milton Hershey left his entire fortune to the school so that "his kids" would always be taken care of. Hershey accepts no private donations - the school is funded by the sales of Hershey products. Here's a few pics of the kids I met:

Egg Salad Sandwiches

This is delicious and very easy to make.

First put your eggs into a pan filled with water. Where water covers the eggs.

I bring it to a boil. Once the water is boiling I start a timer and leave it boiling for 15 minutes.

U then turn the heat off and let it sit for a few minutes longer.

Then I cool the eggs off by running them under cold water.

Once they are cool enough to handle I peel each one.

Place them into a bowl and I like to use a potato masher to mash them up.

Once they are all mashed I add some salt and pepper.

Then add mayo. The amount just depends on how much your family likes.

Then just put some on your bread and there you have it.

I love homemade Indian Tacos.. I thought I would share the recipe with you!

First you will need:

2 cups All Purpose Flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup Buttermilk
2 cans Pinto Beans
1 can Ranch Style Beans
1 lb. hamburger meat
1 packet Taco Seasoning

Lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese to garnish
You can also use sour cream if you like.

Brown ground beef and cook according to package of seasoning mix. Add the beans and heat.

Mix flour, baking powder and salt together. Stir in buttermilk until dough forms.

Turn out on floured surface and kneed a few times. Using a ball of dough roughly 2 to 3" in diameter, pat out to form a flat round of dough. Continue till all dough is used, roughly 4 to 6 fry breads.

Fill skillet with 1 to 2" of oil and fry till golden brown, turn over and repeat.

Place on paper towel using a towel in between each bread.

Top with beans, meat, and toppings.
