News ! What’s going on with us

Check out this Discounted Pet Med place ! Has anyone used it? http://lx.im/4JzI #ad

OK well I am at the hospital and thought I’d take the time to give an update! Daniel had hip surgery on Wed. so now he has a matching set. The first few days were horrible as he was in so much pain. They have now moved him to Baptist Hospital where he is doing Physical Therapy. Tonight will be my last night to spend the night with him because kids will have school on Monday. The nurses have been so kind and very hospitable. I am not sure when he will get to go home so I will have to keep you in the loop on twitter.

Well we have our inspection on the house next week, hopefully the jerk that has made an offer on our house will cooperate (for those of you who have been following the story on facebook) If not we are going to just walk and wait for the next buyer to come along. This guy is unreal!

Now for some good news……………………….

I’m going to the Oscars !

Kodak has invited me to to go to the Oscars and sit in the bleachers! I am so excited and I can hardly wait. I believe there about 5 or 6 others going but I am most excited that my friend Katja is going as I have not seen her in awhile. I have already bought my dress and got my hair cut and I have an interview with the Daily Oklahoman next week! Kodak will be paying for my airfare and hotel. I believe they will also be giving us a digital camera and video camera to try and catch some great shots of everyone attending. Kodak will also provide a Kodak Kiosk and photo booth where we can print all of our pics for free! We will then join them at the El Capitan Theater for food and viewing ceremony! Kodak has truly thought of everything to make this experience a memorable one! I am hoping to get a glimpse of this little Twilight Cutie! I tried to put him on my seating chart but he was already taken LOL! Darn It! Oh well I guess I could settle for George Clooney ! When I get back I will be sure and post all the photos and a picture of my dress and everything!

I am a #TheViewMoms Ambassader !

So I got an email that I will get to be apart of the #The View Moms Ambassador campaign sponsored by Mom Central. We will be able to get to see clips of the shows before anyone else and also interact directly with the ABC Daytime team.We will also get the inside scoop on story lines and guests. I can’t wait to find out what else is in store! For being apart of the group I will also receive the View merchandise items.

Give a little love to your wallet this Valentines day

valentines

February 14th is Valentine’s Day. The one day we can get a little giddy and show our affections to the ones we love. For you guys, yes, that means it’s the one day you “have” to get all mushy! Just because it’s Valentine’s Day doesn’t mean you have to empty your wallet though! There are a lot of things to make your Valentine’s Day special; it just takes a little creativity! I thought it would be fun to take a look at some fun and creative ways to make your Valentine’s special. Below are just a few suggestions. I am sure you can come up with some creative suggestions on your own. In fact, let us know how you plan to celebrate a cost-effective Valentine’s Day!

*Set The Mood*

  • Light some candles & draw up a bubble bath
  • Instead of having dinner at the table, spread a blanket on the floor, light some candles, turn on some music and have a picnic next to the fire

*Get Creative*

  • Write a poem
  • Put in your favorite tunes and serenade that special someone
  • Get that special someone’s iPod and upload a group of love songs. Title it “Oh How I Love Thee”

*Make Your Gift*

  • Make a CD of your favorite love songs
  • Put together a scrapbook or collage
  • Lots of photo sites have specials if you are new to them to make free projects like calendars and more; just pay shipping!
  • Make your own card
  • Bake some goodies! You can make Rice Krispies Treats in heart-shaped cookie cutters. Wrap them in cellophane and tie with a bow. These make wonderful gifts for all of the special people in your life. You could also make various Rice Krispies treats with your kids this Valentine’s Day for some extra special bonding time.  See below for some ideas:

  • Want get really creative? You can dip your Rice Krispies Treats in Strawberry Glaze and then take one strand of Twizzler Pull and Peel and tie a bow around the Rice Krispies Treat.
  • Dip in chocolate and use sprinkles.
  • Form Rice Krispies Treats into a Hershey Kiss and wrap with tin foil.
  • Form Rice Krispies Treats into a ball, stick a sucker stink in one end and dip them in chocolate. Wrap in cellophane and tie with a bow.
  • You can also use strawberry marshmallows to make your Rice Krispies Treats pink! Roll into a ball and serve in an ice cream cone. Great for kids!
  • Attach a note that says you are giving them your heart.

A Change in the CQ Household

home for sale

Before I tell you guys what is going on, I thought I’d give you a little background on my husband and my mom. In 2005 my DSCN0059husband was rushed to the emergency room on Easter morning and was later diagnosed with a degenerative disease called “ankylosing spondylitis”. Our life was totally about to change. Since there is no cure for this disease we have spent lots of hours in and out of the hospital, several surgeries and more meds than I can count on my fingers. The Remicade infusions that he takes are $8,000 every 6 weeks. This is just one of his many meds .Without insurance it would be a scary situation.

My mom has has Klippel-Feil Syndrome which she has had from birth.  Basically she has fusion of the last 2 cervical and all of the thoracic vertebrae which causes Scoliosis. The last 3 ribs in front are also fused. She also has a splitting of the Spinal Cord in the cervical area about 1 to 2 cm.They told my mom she would never walk, but grandmother put my mom in a snow suit and stuffed towels down the back and taught her how to walk. My mom could have been on disability since birth , but my mom is a strong woman and would not let this disease get the best of her. She went to college and became a Labor & Delivery Nurse. In 2009 my mom got very sick because a patient who was selfish and checked herself into Labor & Delivery because she had Pneumonia and didn’t want to wait in the ER. (The Hospital is not supposed to take those kinds of patients on that floor due to the babies) and mom had to go on disability due to her lungs.

IMG_0311In Jan. of 2010 we made the decision to have my mom move in with us. Because of the situation of being on disability with no insurance because it is the law that you must be on disability for 2 years to get insurance it was hard for my mom to financially stay in her house. Not only that someone tried to break into her house twice while she was at home! Many of you have wondered why I haven’t been as active lately so I just wanted to give you some answers to what was going on!

We got good news today! We found a house, they accepted our offer and we got the loan! So now all we have to do is get our house ready to put on the market! I am so excited! My mom is going to be such a big help! I will no longer have to worry about Daniel being at home now that I have a registered Nurse living with us. She is a great couponer and does a ton of behind the scenes work here on CQ so I hope to be saving even more money! She will be able to also take the kids to school until Taylor starts driving. Did I mention she is also a good cook?

Here is a Pic of the house we are getting! If you are in the Oklahoma area and are looking for a house here are the details of ours!
